I deliver IT infrastructure and software projects into a leading UK broadcaster. Previously I lead and delivered technical consultancy to Higher Education (Universities) globally.
This work specialises in Linux, performance, cloud services and deployment of large scale applications. I’m particularly excited about Linux and the open source movement, continuous/automated deployment, integration and testing, and scaling applications dynamically in the cloud.
Projects have included specifications, implementation, project plans, configuration and deployment methodologies, load testing , documentation, presentations at conferences, customised training, and pre-sales tenders, demos, workshops. I have worked woth waterfall and agile and have experience of delivering software builds in both a structured and CI environment.
I love reading and my interests include science fiction, historical fiction, parasitic biology, economics and social issues. I have a passion for learning new things and exploring new possibilities. When I can I will also spend an afternoon tinkering with new technologies or writing a useful script to automate away a tiresome task.
I'm a big fan of Fedora, and Gnome 3. Vim is my favourite editor and generally I try to stay on a command line.
